Pune continues to battle with swine flu. Now a 35-year old man suffering from the H1N1 virus has been moved to intensive care and put on a ventilator.
This comes three days after 14-year-old Reeda Shaikh became country’s first H1N1 casualty.
The patient, who is a pharmacist, is in a critical, but stable condition. He has a history of heart ailment and has been admitted to the city’s Sassoon General Hospital.
Relatives of the patient could not say how he contracted the virus.
Meanwhile, the flu is spreading with 23 new cases coming up in the last 24 hours reported across India. Of these, 11 cases are from the Capital, eight from Pune and four from Mangalore.
One of the patients is a 25-year old man who reached Delhi from Chicago on July 28. In Pune too, one of the patients returned from Frankfurt to Mumbai.
